Just A Few Folk: Black LP
Standard black vinyl, single LP with printed inner sleeve.
Produced by Cam Blackwood, and co-written with Mr Hudson, Simon Aldred, Jamie Hartman, RĂRY and Neil Ormandy, âJust A Few Folkââ is a beautifully crafted body of work, recorded entirely to tape at renowned London analogue studio Toe Rag Studios. The album speaks of everyday stories and experiences - family bonds, personal relationships, intimate moments. âDiamonds and Goldâ is a soulful dedication to his wife, while âSad Songâ reframes heartache. He reflects on memories of growing up in Middleton, Manchester on âWaiting on a Blue Skyâ, and the lead single âSummer of Loveâ blends retro soul, 70s-inspired grooves and JP Cooperâs signature rich vocals.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the album and its process, JP explains: âThis record feels like a turning point for me â I wasnât thinking about radio, labels, or what might âwork,â I just followed my dopamine. It was important to us that this album felt as human as possible, especially at a time when so much of music and art is being shaped by AI. So I took the band into a studio with no computers, only tape, everyone played together in one room. âJust A Few Folkâ is the most personal collection of music Iâve ever made, and I hope when you listen, youâll feel the same freedom, humanity, and joy that I felt while making it.â¨â
